Andriy Kovalchuk | Unfortunately, the information on the host range of broomrapes from Armenian flora is often scarce, and sometimes even contradictory. I'm wondering whether this plant could belong to O. vitellina. There is apparently not much known about the biology of this species, but according to 'Flora of Armenia' it uses Centaurea species as a host. The only iluustration I could find is from the original description by Novopokrovsky:

Holger Uhlich | I have also think about O. vitellina, but some characteristics are different: In O. vitellina the spike should be faily dense, the stem should be brownish yellow, the stigma should be yellow. I think we need specimens ore a detailed description of these plants for an certainly identification. But I agree, that this plant is very exceptional. |
Holger Uhlich | On the other hand the entire upper lip, the shape of corolla (see fig. at Novopokrovsky) and the length and shape of calyx segments indicated that its O. vitellina. |
